Why be an Xcel Mentor?
Xcel Mentor Requirements
NU Colleges and Majors

Each Professional that signs on to become an Xcel mentor must sign up with the passion and dedication towards the program and its mission that each Xcel mentee has when they enter into the mentoring relationship. Xcel believes that without these two, the mentoring relationship will not be beneficial to both the mentor and the mentee.  The following are additional requirements that fall under the passion and dedication required to be a part of the Xcel Mentoring Program.

Share knowledge, expertise, advice and growth experiences with member in reference to the mentee’s major and or career goals.

Keep dedicated contact with mentee in person at least once per month (if geographically possible) and twice a month via e-mentoring

Establish a valuable relationship with mentee that both mentor and mentee can benefit from.

Provide member with applicable resources that are beneficial to the growth of the member, professionally and academically.

Be a source that member can turn to for professional contacts to establish a meaningful network with persons in their field of study or career goals.

Encourage winning behavior, trigger self awareness and offer wise counsel.
