The Xcel Mentoring Process can last for four months or many years.
There are two four month rotations per year and each mentor is asked
to sign up for a minimum of four months. The first Mentoring Rotation
will begin in January, 2005 and will last for four months.
Sign up to be a mentor by completing the Mentor Registration Form
- Xcel
members complete a Mentor Request Form. They interview with a
member of the Mentoring Program Committee to further detail
their expectations of the mentoring program and potential
mentor.
- The
Mentoring Program Committee contacts potential mentors based
on the Mentor Request Form that our members complete and the
interviews that they undergo with the Mentoring Program
Committee.

Potential Mentors that agree to become a Xcel mentor will
complete the Mentor Registration Form.
- Based on
the potential mentors and Xcel members’ needs and
qualifications, the Mentoring Program Committee will begin the
Mentor Matching Process.
- When
potential mentors are matched with Xcel members, they will
receive a formal letter welcoming them into the Xcel Mentoring
Program in addition to a brief introduction to their potential
mentee. If the potential mentor agrees to the terms of the
welcome letter, they will complete the online Mentor
Agreement, which states their intent to become a part of the
Xcel Mentoring Program. They then become an official Xcel
Mentor.
- Xcel
Mentors and Mentees attend the three hour Xcel Mentoring
Program Orientation where they undergo training and meet each
other.
- Six
weeks into the Mentoring Rotation, Xcel mentors and mentees
will attend a Mid-Rotation Dinner where mentors and mentees
can mix and mingle. A Mid-Rotation evaluation will be due one
week after the Dinner.
- At the
end of the four-month rotation, Xcel mentors and mentees will
attend an End-of-Rotation Meeting/Dinner where mentors and
mentees will share their Mentoring Program experience. A
End-of –Rotation evaluation will be due one week after the
